Our Story
The Southern Grind at the Wharf was established in 2012. Jimmy McPhillips always dreamed of owning a restaurant and Orange Beach needed a Coffee House, with the help of Jimmy’s sister Carol The Southern Grind was created. Jimmy’s wife, Jaime brought that vision to life with her Interior Design skills and together Jimmy and Jaime filled the walls with art they created together. Family recipes, homemade pastries, and really fresh ingredients are just part of their success. They also offer Gelato, wifi, and a court yard making them more than a Coffee House. In 2017, The Southern Grind opened its second location with Hotel Indigo in Orange Beach, sharing similar visions to create a unique atmosphere that featured local flavor where locals and visitors could gather together. Jimmy and Jaime’s hands on approach has earned them numerous awards and excellent reviews. Together with the help of a dedicated team they strive to help you bust out of your daily grind at The Southern Grind.
The Wharf
Be sure to stop by The Southern Grind at The Wharf while you are catching a concert, shopping, at a car show, or a fishing tournament. It is a great place for locals to gather or vacationers to enjoy our court yard. With our newly expanded space we feature wifi and usb ports. You never know what unique array of gifts and home décor you will find in our old antique boat. At both locations you will be sure to find Gelato, Pastries, Desserts and a lounge.
